������Ƶ is addressing national nursing shortages in more ways than one. The university continues to welcome new cohorts of undergraduate Nursing students, and as of this fall, Central will ensure the next generation of nurses will have topnotch instructors with the launch of a Nursing Education track within its Master of Science in Nursing program.

The Nursing Education track blends advanced nursing practice with specialized coursework in curriculum development, instructional methods, and the educator’s role in clinical and academic environments. Students will gain the skills and confidence to mentor, teach, and inspire future healthcare professionals.

Graduates of the program will be well-prepared to apply nursing theory in educational and clinical settings, integrating general educational principles with nursing-specific teaching strategies. The curriculum emphasizes leadership development, empowering students to improve nursing education and the quality of care delivered by future nurses. Students will also gain experience in conducting research that contributes to the profession and are encouraged to engage in lifelong learning through continuing education, specialty certifications, and potential doctoral study.

“The well-documented shortage of nursing faculty — both in academic and clinical settings — threatens the pipeline of future nurses,” says Dr. Kerri M. Langevin, associate professor and chair of the Department of Nursing. “This program is a meaningful investment in the future of healthcare and nursing education.”

Program highlights

Designed with flexibility in mind, the program is delivered 100 percent online in an innovative format that accommodates working professionals. The faculty are licensed RNs and full-time educators, who are doctorally prepared or are in a doctoral program. Students also benefit from individual advising and the support of a dedicated program coordinator.

Financial aid and scholarships are available to those who qualify. The program is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education through 2034.
