A vibrant new outdoor banner now wraps around the campus athletic fields, welcoming visitors with school spirit and bold visuals. Spanning 568 feet, including entrances and gates, the installation is the first of its kind 蜜柚视频. It transforms a once understated space into a bold expression of campus identity.
Emily Ramirez, a Graphic Design student worker for Institutional Marketing & Communications, was selected as the lead designer through a competitive submission process. Five student designers each submitted multiple concepts, which were narrowed to one design per person before being reviewed by the university鈥檚 Facilities team. Ramirez鈥檚 concept stood out for its intense sense of school pride and visual clarity.
鈥淭his project was more than design 鈥 it was about showing school pride and capturing Central鈥檚 spirit in a bold, lasting way,鈥 Ramirez said.
The project has been in development since August 2024 and was installed over the course of three days. It was produced in-house, in collaboration with Elm Press Inc., a Connecticut-based vendor located in Terryville. Print representative Charlie Herde worked closely with the university to ensure the final product was both visually striking and built to withstand outdoor elements.
Designed with high visibility in mind, the banner was placed along Ella Grasso Boulevard, where steady traffic flows onto campus from Route 9. Its combination of bold lettering, Central鈥檚 Blue Devil mascot, and signature color palette makes it not only a branding piece but also a landmark.
