TASTING NOTES
A blend of 90% Sangiovese, 5% Canaiolo and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. 15-18 days of maceration at 30 degrees C. Classic Tuscan spicy, meaty, earthy flavours with great, natural acidity and firm tannins. Mouthfilling and satisfying.
BACKGROUND
Ever since the acquisition in 1994, the Angelini family has been investing greatly in their high density - low yield vineyards and in the renovation of winemaking facilities at each one of their three estates. As a result the wines are outstanding, beautifully refined, showing great elegance and depth of flavours. Skilfully crafted by chief oenologist Mario Calzolari, Angelini wines express all the attributes of the classic Tuscan appellations. Careful selection of grapes and clever use of Slavonian oak ensures approachability and elegance of the core Angelini range. Special cuvées, on the other hand, are the result of modern winemaking techniques combined with great Tuscan tradition. La Villa, Simposio, Vigna Spuntali and Vigna del Lago are all macerated for 18 days in temperature controlled, stainless-steel tanks and aged for 24 months in “cigare” shaped 300-litre new French barrels. Consequently, these stunning, fine wines are displaying complexity and finesse, as well as remarkable structure and immense power. While approachable immediately upon the release these perfect examples of Sangiovese are capable of benefiting from a long life in the cellar.
