TASTING NOTES
Golden in colour. Honey and dried fruits which combines well with the pronounced acidity. Full on the palate with a finish that seems to linger forever.
BACKGROUND
Tokaji Aszu, was proclaimed the “Wine of Kings and King of Wines” by Louis XIV, and for hundreds of years the wine has graced the table the very elite in Europe.
The wine itself is very fine, usually very sweet and served as a desert wine. The winemakers of Tokaji derive its unique flavour by late harvesting and they owe a lot to the fortunate combination of weather conditions in the vineyards.
The wine is named after Tokaj, a hilly fertile region in northeastern Hungary. Its reputation was ruined by the soviet communist elite after they attempted to increase yields and production levels. The fall of the Soviets and help from foreign investment has seen Tokaji retain its rightful place as one of the worlds finest wines.
