Awarded a Bronze Medal in the 2006 International Wine Challenge. A rich, full body with balanced acidity. Pale gold in colour a fresh luscious sweet white wine.
BACKGROUND
Country: Slovenia
The wide chain of hills that extends itself along the Slovene coast from Koper to Piran is the wine producing area of the Koper region. Vinakoper is driven to produce top quality wines like small boutique wineries, yet it works with large quantities. The company is the largest vineyard owner (500 Hectares) in the country which means it has direct control over cultivation and thus quality of its grapes. It is big and bold enough to invest heavily in top equipment, and chief winemaker, Iztok Klenar, aims to keep the balance between the international (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc), and local grape varieties (Malvasia, Refosk, Sivi Pinot - Pinot Gris) Thus some of his wines can be compared to those from around the world, while others have a distinct local character.
