TASTING NOTES
The wine has an intense ruby red colour with an aroma of woodland fruits. 1 year in oak & 2 years in bottle before release. Delicate, lightly tannic & persistant flavours. It combines well with spiced dishes, roasts and aged cheeses.
BACKGROUND
The 1952 name comes from the date the original cantina – on the same site was built. The wine is a combination of 80% Negroamaro, & 20% Montepulciano. According to Greek geographer Strabo, the city of Brindisi has been a city of viticulture since antiquity and was founded by settlers from the Cretan capital Knossos in 16th century BC. Cantina Sampietrana is a Cantina Sociale with just over 60 members and has been making fine Salento wines since 1952. They remain honest to their traditions as well as adapting to new techniques. The cellar is located in the historic village of San Pietro Vernotica which lies twixt Brindisi & Lecce.80% Negroamaro, 20% Montepulciano.
