TASTING NOTES
This Rietvallei estate is internationally acclaimed for making one of the finest fortified Red Muscadels in South Africa. Many of the bush vines are over 80 years old and yield tiny but intensely flavoured berries that create a superb fragrant dessert wine. The bouquet is enticing with a perfumed Muscat aroma, which follows on the palate with complex raisiny sweetness and rose petal fragrance. The acidity complements the wine and makes it easy to enjoy this intensely sweet and aromatic wine.
BACKGROUND
This superb family owned wine estate is one of the old farms in Robertson and is situated in the Klaas Voogds area, eight kilometres east of old town of Robertson. The farm was established in 1864 by Alwyn Burger, and today it is under the stewardship of the 5th and 6th generations of the Burger family, Johnny and Kobus. Together father and son oversee the winemaking process with a real hands-on approach both for the viticulture and vinification to produce Rietvallei`s prestigious wines.
FOOD MATCHING
A traditional fireside companion in winter, it is best enjoyed lightly chilled with fine chocolate dessert or blue cheeses or as a summer partner to coconut ice cream with a hot ginger sauce, fudge cake or pecan pie.

At 16% abv this delightful dessert wine will keep for 5 years plus.
