TASTING NOTES
This delightful Régnié has a deep ruby red colour with hints of violet, and a wonderful nose of pepper, dark fruit, rubbed bramble leaf, and earth. On the palate it is medium bodied, fruity and sappy, with lots of dark crunchy brambly fruit, spice, and a hint of liquorice.
The finish is long and dry, again with dark brambly fruit, and a hint of gamey undergrowth.
BACKGROUND
La Maison des Bulliats is a small vineyard producing, a delightfully light and well-structured award winning red wine from the Gamay grape variety. Régnié is the most recently created of the Beaujolais Crus, the appellation having received its official status in 1988. The original vines of the region were planted by the Roman governor Reginus from which the cru derives its name. These vines thrive in a natural environment with minimal product intervention. The grapes are harvested and sorted by hand and vinified using traditional methods.
FOOD MATCHING
It is excellent with hams & pork/other meat dishes, and cheeses. Best served cool at 13-15C.
CELLAR POTENTIAL
This wine will age very well over the next 6-8 years but is drinking nicely now.
