TASTING NOTES
Malty Marzipan and dried peel on the nose, with more oranges and apricots coming through later, initially soft on the palate with malty sweetness and dried fruit. Well - balanced oak with just a touch coming back as the finish dies, with a final kick containing mocha and dark espresso notes.
BACKGROUND
In 1836 tenant farmer Robert Hay was granted a licence to produce whisky at the Glenfarclas Distillery. After his death, John Grant, a prominent cattle breeder looking for an ideal halfway staging post between his farm and market, took an interest in the abandoned distillery and property, and so began the Grant family whisky legacy. By 1912 Glenfarclas’ reputation was well-established; even a competitor said, “of all the whiskies, malt is king, of all the kings, Glenfarclas reigns supreme”—a sentiment the family still holds close to their hearts. The Grant family tradition continues today with the fifth generation, John L S Grant, now Chairing and his son, George, Glenfarclas’ Brand Ambassador.
