TASTING NOTES
Ruby red colour, an intense fruity bouquet with persistent notes of licorice and pepper . Young wine, dry, pronounced tannin and good persistence.
BACKGROUND
The birth of the wine estate called “ Casa al Vento “ constitutes a new challenge for the Gioffreda family who just over 10 years ago dedicated passion and energy to the project of bringing prestige to an ancient mediaeval village in the territory of Gaiole in Chianti. Farmhouses and barns, which had once been the homes of peasants and sharecroppers, were restructured and renewed turning them into desirable holiday homes , and then the work concentrated its attention on the vineyards , gradually substituting the old plants with new clones of Sangiovese , Merlot and Alicante, without however depriving the estate of the little portions dedicated to Malvasia , the varietal which is indispensable for the production of Vin Santo. Vineyards wrenched out of an uncontaminated landscape suddenly appear amongst the steep slopes which surround the village , caressed by the sun and the wind.
The annual production is about 30,000 bottles . The great interest in natural agronomic methods which are less invasive , has lead to the decision to take the difficult path towards being registered as a biological estate , which gives more value to the wine production while safeguarding health and environment.
