TASTING NOTES

A wine from Emporda, in the far North East of Spain. It is medium bodied with red-currant flavours.
It would pair very well with roast lamb or possibly roast pork.

BACKGROUND

Espelt viticultors are a family run winery since 1910 and grow Garnacha with Carinena on top of slate, gravel and granite soils. The family became very wealthy from their agricultural machinery business and in 2000 decided to considerably upgrade their land holdings to around 200ha.
Today, the winery is run by the daughter of the family Ana Espelt and produce around 1 million kilos of grapes and with 17 different varieties, create 10 different wines. The Espelt family also had help designing the wine label from Mariscal who created the mascot for the Barcelona Olympics.
