TASTING NOTES
A blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 4% Malbec. Fruit driven aroma of red current, cassis and plum fruits and hints of vanilla, which follows through to the palate supported by an soft mineral feel with hints of oak, with a long spicy finish.
BACKGROUND
This is a joint venture between long standing friends Ernie Els and Jean Engelbrecht. The Ernie Els vineyards are located high up on the northern slopes of the Helderberg Mountain. The stunning new winery was opened at the end of 2004. The winemaker is Louis Strydom. Ernie Els is one of South Africa’s leading ambassadors and one of the most recognizable faces in the world of sport. His collaboration with Jean to make world class wines has been an outstanding success.
