TASTING NOTES
Deep Ruby in colour. Aromas of vibrant ripe red fruit imbued with hints of
violets together with subtle earthy and smokey nuances supplemented by spicy oak savouriness. A palate richly flavoured with intense red fruits, well balanced
subtle sweetness and spicy well integrated oak leading to a delicate lingering soft finish.
BACKGROUND
James Healy and Ivan Sutherland left Cloudy Bay in 2003, after many years service as winemaker and vineyard manager respectively, to make wine from Ivan`s Dog Point vineyard. Fruit is sourced from selected vineyard plantings of older well-established vines. Low yields, hand harvesting, natural yeasts, natural malolactic, lots of lees contact and a generally low tech approach are key to the magnificence of these wines.
FOOD MATCHING
Wonderfully adaptable, Pinot Noir will accompany Poultry , white meats and game. Try Slow roasted Pork Belly, truffled lentils & cabbage& sautéed mushrooms or Rustic Salad of Rabbit, lardons, walnuts & blue cheese . Venison and mushroom pie.
CELLAR POTENTIAL
This wine can be enjoyed now but can be aged from 4 to 6 years.
