Smokey and smooth the 18 year old has grown grander with time. It’s the ideal whisky to reward with while sitting beside the fire watching the sea and wind through the window, safe and snug indoors.
BACKGROUND
Pronounced 'cull-eela', and situated on the north eastern shores of islay, with magnificent views across the sound of islay to the spectacular paps of jura.
For more than 100 years small steam-engined coasters known affectionately as 'puffers' brought cargoes of malting barley, coal and empty casks to Caol Ila Distillery, returning full whisky casks to the mainland through the Sound of Islay, the strait that separates Islay from Jura and which is known in the Gaelic language as Caol Ila.
This old malt is individually bottled and presented under the distinctive Coopers Choice label. Casks of malts at different ages are selected from some of Scotland's finest, but rarely bottled distilleries. They encompass all the varied tastes and flavours to be found from the Eastern coastline, to the Highland Valleys and all the way to the Western Isles.
