Essentially Wine is an independent fine wine merchant established in 2004.  We sell wine, wine accessories, wine glasses, and wine cellars.  We have over 350 of the world's finest wines in stock, from some of the best small and unusual vineyards, with an ever-changing wine list, friendly and helpful service, free delivery, cellar planning advice, wines by the bottle or the case, regular wine tasting events, and fine wine accessories.  We offer gift-wrapping, and we have free parking outside our shop in Chipstead.

Visit our shops in the small quaint village of Chipstead in Surrey or Richmond upon Thames. We have parking adjacent to both shops and we offer a carryout service.  Inside our shop you'll find an array of fine wine accessories.

What makes Essentially Wine different from other wine shops?

 

• High quality small estates:  Essentially Wine primarily specialises in small wine producers, many of which are family run concerns. Why is that important? It's important because wines from small vineyards generally offer superior quality when compared to mass-produced wines.

 

• Estate bottled wines: Virtually all of our wines are estate bottled, rather than bulk wines. Estate bottled wines are exactly that, wines that are bottled at the chateau, while bulk wines are transported in large tanks via truck and bottled at their destination by the importer. Bulk wines are naturally cheaper to transport than Estate bottled wines and this is reflected in their prices, however, Estate bottled wines are vastly superior in quality when compared to bulk wines. It should not come as much of a surprise then when I say that the vast majority of wines on supermarket shelves are bulk wines - hence the appearance of the wine being cheap in cost. But like most things in life -- one generally gets what one pays for.

 

• Limited quantity wines: Many of the wines we stock are produced in limited quantity, which means that you won't easily find them elsewhere. The large chains and Supermarkets focus on wines that they can buy in large quantities. This means that often the best wines are overlooked because the supply is limited.

 

• Good advice: We offer good advice and guidance with regards to helping you select from our extensive wine list of over 350 different wines.

 

• No minimum order quantity: Buy by the bottle or the case -- there's no minimum order quantity.
